Follow Me To Uluru!

A few months ago I wrote an Australian Bucket List because although I’ve seen a lot of Sydney since moving to Oz I’ve mainly been skirting around the edges of this massive, fascinating place. The sheer size and variety of Australia’s landscape is something that is sometimes revealed to me as I fly over the country on route to the nearest continent thousands of miles away. But from previous experience I feel that you only start to understand this country when you stop to check out the middle.

This Thursday I’m flying to Uluru. Since getting a glimpse of the magnificent Red Centre of Australia a few years ago I’ve longed to go back and explore it further. I’ve also longed to take my Aussie partner back with me. Like many Aussies he has never had a chance to explore this side of his country and I cannot wait to see his face as we drive along red dirt roads towards a rock that holds such significance.

This opportunity is thanks to Austravel, the award-winning Australia travel specialists, who got in touch to help me realise these dreams. After discussing my interests and style of travel they’ve put together a fantastic 5 day itinerary that involves some self-driving mixed with phenomenal experiences like the Sounds of Silence star-gazing dinner. Everyone in their travel centre has been to Australia and has first hand knowledge of what experiences to do and when. Armed with their recommendations we feel fully prepared to make the most of our time in the Red Centre.

We’ll be staying at the 5-star Sails in the Desert whilst at Uluru and at The Wilderness Lodge in Kings Creek for the 2 nights we’ll be spending in Kings Canyon. We’ll be rising before the sun to catch the outback in its best light and will no doubt enjoy a glass of bubbles or two when the time comes to watch it set.

I cannot wait to capture on camera and try to distill into words the magic of this area and I’m really looking forward to digging a little deeper into centuries of Australian history and culture. I hope you’ll come with me on this journey of discovery.
