Adina Apartment Hotels encourage guests to live like a local and after visiting Adina Auckland in Britomart I really wish I was one!
Adina Apartment Hotel Auckland is found in an ex-residential building in the trendy waterfront neighbourhood of Britomart. The complex consists of over 150 stylish and modern apartments that are perfect for the self-sufficient traveller who likes to have their own space along with perks such as 24-hour reception and room service.
Accommodation ranges from studios kitted out with kitchenettes to a brand spanking new penthouse apartment – and I was one of the first lucky guests to check into it.
The penthouse has 3 generous bedrooms with super-size squidgy beds. I loved the fresh décor with hues of blue in the abstract art and decorative pillows. All bedrooms have their own televisions and the guest rooms have built-in wardrobes and study nooks too.
I (naturally) opted to road test the master suite, which occupies the whole of the second level and has luxury touches including an electronic fireplace, master en suite with bath and double shower, an incredible walk-in closet and an enclosed balcony with views of the Auckland Tower.
The downstairs living area is perfect for hosting events. (I could easily picture a glam hens party or baby shower being held here.) Natural light floods the space from the double length windows that face the harbour and there’s plenty of stylish seating from the armchairs to dining table.
The kitchen is so well equipped it almost made me want to cook something. (Almost! The benefit of staying in an Adina Apartment is that you can order something from room service and just pretend you cooked it!) For those that are more culinarily inclined you can easily whip up a feast here, there’s even a dishwasher so you needn’t worry about washing the dishes. I did make use of the teapot and kettle each morning though and felt quite at home sipping my English Breakfast Tea whilst working at the kitchen bench top (which looks rather like the one I’ve always dreamed of).
Additional touches that make your stay here super comfortable are the laundry facilities (both washer and dryer) and rather clever radio alarm clocks with USB ports, so you can charge your phone right next to the pillow. The rooms are also serviced daily so whilst you feel quite at home in the apartment someone else is kindly in charge of cleaning it!
The room service I mentioned earlier is supplied by the hotel’s onsite restaurant. Providing more than your usual room service fare, The Yard Bar & Eatery delivers salads, curries, pizzas and beer battered New Zealand Snapper – all of which our group sampled and raved about. The Yard Bar & Eatery is also a great place to grab breakfast in the morning, especially if you like giant fluffy Buttermilk Pancakes with bacon and berries. (And who doesn’t really?)
Location-wise you couldn’t get any better in Auckland. Britomart is bursting with cafes, restaurants, fashion boutiques and dessert bars – there’s certainly enough to keep your taste buds busy! Being close to the waterfront means the hotel is also fantastic for taking trips to the neighbouring island of Waiheke – a favourite with the locals for its wealth of beaches, bush walks and boutique wineries.
Adina Auckland is like a home from home, and in this case the home in Auckland was much better than my own!
Room rates at the Adina Apartment Hotel Britomart start at $188NZ/night. I travelled to Auckland as a guest of TFE Hotels. For more information or to book click here.
