From Budds Beach to Burleigh, savoury or sweet, my pick of the best places to eat brunch all along Queensland’s Gold Coast.
Elk Espresso
Elk is tucked down a quiet street in Broadbeach. The owner’s have turned what the signage suggests was an old surf club into a rustic woodland complete with Elk motif on the wall. The coffee is consistently good but the brunch menu is something to really shout about. As we visited a couple of times during our trip to the Gold Coast I can personally vouch for the deliciousness of the brioche French toast with poached pears, berries, salted caramel and Chantilly cream, as well as the grain free granola and passionfruit panna cotta. For something more savoury they have the delicious sounding avocado and feta mash, whilst the lunch menu features a Byron Bay pulled pork burger.

Sparrow Eating House
I came across Sparrow Eating House in Nobby Beach thanks to the flyer I picked up in Elk (they’re sister properties). Primarily offering a menu of share plates for the evening crowd, Sparrow open for brunch on the weekends and do a delicious couple of Eggs Benedict options which include piles of avocado or pulled pork. The decor at Sparrow Eating House is particularly note worthy too with white tiles, bright wire lamps and primary coloured crockery used to great effect.

ESPL Coffee Brewers
ESPL Coffee Brewers is like a 1 man Melbourne cafe in the heart of Surfers Paradise. Situated minutes from the ocean front, it’s the best place to grab coffee in the area, especially if you like single origin brews and a decent iced coffee. They have a range of freshly baked pastries in store too if you want to grab something sweet to go with it. There’s not a massive amount of seating but grab your coffee to go and head to the beach instead.

Bumbles Cafe
Bumbles is a really cute looking cafe overlooking Budd’s Beach. The decor is flowery and homely, with home baked cakes and jars full of sweets on the counter. The breakfast menu is simple but well done – think: generous sized portions of bacon and eggs and French toast dripping in Maple syrup. There’s ample seating outside so it’s a great spot to get away from the crowds near Surfers Paradise.

Burleigh Social Club
Burleigh Social is the creation of 3 former airline workers who serve local Allpress coffee and good food boxed in a way which suits the low key environment. The bacon and egg roll served in slightly sweet brioche is the biggest seller, but there are also paleo and vegan options as well as acai bowls for the healthier eaters. With sweet treats including Caromelo Koala and Oreo topped muffins, you’ve got to save room for cake though!

They all tickle my tastebuds, but a really good indicator is how are the eggs benedict and the coffee. All of these look fantastic places, and I look forward to trying them all.
The eggs benedict at Sparrow were VERY good!
We go to the Gold Coast quite often. It has great cycling paths. I’m going to put this post away for future reference – thanks.
I think I need to do more cycling next time – especially after all those brunches 🙂
