It’s no secret that one of our favourite places for family-friendly staycations is Cornwall. Vast sandy beaches, scenic train rides, idyllic harbours and family-friendly days out – Cornwall’s got it all. What’s more, you can have a truly memorable Cornwall family holiday by staying in a unique hideaway.
So, I’ve handpicked 5 stunning options for family glamping in Cornwall and included tips on what to do with your family close to each of them.

Mistery 2
What’s cooler than telling the kids you are staying on a houseboat in Cornwall this summer? Not just any houseboat either. Mistery 2 is a beautiful barge that has been lovingly converted with traditional décor including shiplap panelling, open shelving and beams on the ceiling. Upcycled shipping materials, including Falmouth dock pilings, have been mixed with cosy furnishings to give this houseboat a country-cottage-meets-maritime feel and I’m here for it!
The barge is surprisingly capacious with two double bedrooms (1 en-suite), a fully fitted kitchen, open plan living & dining, family bathroom and even a cosy study nook.
The huge outdoor space is breath-taking too. Set within 2 acres of land, you have your own private fire pit and direct access to the river for paddle boarding or kayaking.
Located close to Falmouth, you have sights such as Trebah Gardens, Swanpool Beach and the National Maritime Museum nearby to keep the little ones busy.
Scenic Bay
Picture this, after a sun-soaked day at one of Cornwall’s best beaches, you’re enjoying a glass of wine while you watch the sunset over Mount Bay and the children run around a flower-strewn meadow.
Scenic Bay is a luxury glamping pod with unbeatable views of Cornwall’s iconic St Michael’s Mount. Featuring a double bed and double sofa bed, this compact but cleverly appointed glamping pod has everything you need for a comfortable stay in one of Cornwall’s best locations.
We’ve stayed close to Mount Bay in the past and it really is an excellent base for exploring West Cornwall. The beautiful Hayle and Porthcurno beaches are an easy drive away, as is the quaint fishing village of Mousehole and the famous Minack Theater. Best of all, ever-popular St Ives is just a scenic train ride along the coast from nearby St Erth Station.
The Pigsty
The Pigsty by name but not by nature! This property is in fact a characterful converted barn close to Porthcurno Beach and The Minack Theatre. My favourite thing about this Cornwall accommodation is the open plan living area with high beams, shiplap panelling and a wood-burner. It also has the most stylish entryway that wouldn’t look out of place on an interiors Instagram account.
The Pigsty would best suit families with a baby or toddler as there is 1 large bedroom with a double and single bed in it. It would also be great for a romantic break with a rustic feel as The Pigsty is situated on a working farm.
Rockwater Cabin
Rockwater Cabin is not the kind of place you get to stay in everyday! The very definition of unique hideaway, Rockwater Cabin is a cosy home perched on the cliffs above unspoilt Whitsand Bay, an area often referred to as the ‘forgotten’ part of Cornwall.
I can just imagine drifting off to the sound of the ocean in this little whitewashed bedroom, followed by a refreshing morning walk along the three miles of golden sand. It sleeps up to 3 people in 1 double and 1 single bedroom, and I’m sure it would feel such an adventure making your morning cuppa in the bright galley kitchen.
I love that the location of Rockwater Cabin is lesser-known and I’ll admit that I did have to google it! But aside from exploring the beach down below, it looks like there are lots of charming villages to explore in this part of Cornwall, including quaint Kingsand and Cawsand. In the opposite direction you’ll find the picture-book fishing village of Polperro, which is notorious for being a smuggling hub in the 18th and 19th centuries.
The Hideaway
Comfortably sleeping up to 4 is this quirky glamping pod near Marazion. Tucked away in a corner of a field with sea views, The Hideaway is the ultimate family-friendly glamping in Cornwall. Here you have seclusion and privacy with the added security of an enclosed meadow next door to The Hideaway that little guests are welcome to explore.
Again, this unique hideaway is in an unbeatable location for Cornwall family holidays. Situated on the outskirts of Perranuthnoe, the village pub, café and sandy beach are all within walking distance. Just a short drive down the road you have Praa Sands or Marazion Beach, which is not only where you’ll find the causeway to St Michael’s Mount, but a rather good playground. (According to our toddler, anyway!)
