While you were all enjoying your weekends I was making my way from Melbourne to the UK for my next big blogging adventure. I sneaked into London (legally, of course!) early yesterday morning and am getting ready to set sail on Wednesday on an incredibly exciting project with Princess Cruises.
I’ll be spending 10 days on board Regal Princess, enjoying all the facilities of the sophisticated ship, while being whisked to 6 different cities in 6 European countries.
We set sail from Berlin (Warnemunde) on Wednesday and head to the following incredible destinations – 4 of which are brand new to me.
Tallin, Estonia
St Petersburg, Russia
Helsinki, Finland
Stockholm, Sweden
Copenhagen, Denmark
Oslo, Norway
There are so many highlights to this itinerary but on a personal level I’m so excited by the 2 days we’ll be spending in St Petersburg. When I was a wee 11-year-old my stepdad worked on a construction there and he set me up with a pen friend via one of his colleagues. We would exchange notes and pictures over the following months and her life seemed so exotic and strange to little, untravelled me. I can’t wait to see her country come to life from her letters and – as if just being there wasn’t enough – I’m also overly excited because we are going to the Russian Ballet to see Swan Lake. (I almost swooned when I read that on the itinerary.)
The vessel taking us to all these amazing places is not too shabby either. I’ll be sailing on the Regal Princess, a 1083-foot long, 19-deck liner, which houses 3560 guests and has state of the art facilities including the SeaWalk, a glass-bottomed enclosed walkway that juts out of the top deck and allows you to stroll 128 feet above the ocean. (If you dare, that is!)
I’ll be taking an Ultimate Ship Tour on the first day at sea to get all the behind-the-scenes goss on how this liner feeds, entertains and houses its passengers and to research essential details such as where to find the best pastries and coffees. (My bet is on the Horizon Bistro Pastry Shop.)
Among my companions for this trip are a few familiar faces – they’ll be Vicky from last year’s trips to Antigua and Greece, Emily and Amelia who I hung out with India and Vicki who I just met in Daylesford all on the ship. We’re all set to have a blast and take you guys along for the ride thanks to the ship being fitted with (officially) the Best Wi-Fi at Sea. (Thank you Wi-Fi gods.)
If you have any must-do/see tips for the cities we’re visiting please send them my way. And if you’ve been on board the Regal Princess feel free to make me excited with stories about what I have to look forward to!

Ooo can’t wait! Going to be a fun 10 days. I’ve actually been everywhere on the list so it’s going to be interesting to see it all from a cruiser’s perspective. Excited for the days at sea too.
