Regular readers will know I’m a big fan of a travel capsule wardrobe. I want my travel outfits to take me from (airport) runway to resort in comfort and style and that applies to my feet too. Luckily, this year I discovered Aussie brand Rollie who have created a range of ultimate travel shoes. Read on to discover why Rollies are the not only the best shoes for flying but will be perfect for exploring new destinations too.
The best shoes for flying
Rollies were designed with the frequent flyer in mind. Founder Vince wanted to create the perfect travel shoe for his flight attendant wife, Kat, also known as Rollie, and that’s how the Melbourne-based company was born.
The result is a range of stylish shoes that are almost unfeasibly light, in super soft and breathable fabrics that mould to your feet. What more could you want when flying?
For the past couple of weeks I’ve been trying out the Derby City Grey Kid Suede (gifted). I chose this design because I knew it would fit right in with my travel wardrobe but was truly blown away by how comfortable they are to wear.
Unlike most shoes I’ve purchased they required no breaking in and were comfortable from day 1. Despite a smallish platform they are lighter than a flip flop and the memory foam insoles feel lush on your sockless feet.
(Remember to pop some slipper socks in your hand luggage to change into on the plane!)
The more astute will note I’m currently heavily pregnant so I haven’t been able to try them out in the sky just yet. But my swollen feet and heavy legs have been so glad to wear these around town during the third trimester. If they can get me through pregnancy I’m confident they’ll be perfect for our flight from London to Oz next year!
Best shoes for exploring
I’ve also been road testing a pair of Derby Sport Snow Leopard – because who can resist a leopard print sneaker? Not me!
Featuring premium cow leather lining and memory foam collar padding this is a casual shoe of the highest quality and, just like the Derby City, are so darn comfy.
If you’re travelling anywhere where you know you’ll be doing a lot of exploring on foot (I’m looking at you cities like New York and Tokyo that made my feet bleed!) then treat your tooties to these.
Where will you Rollie?
Each style of Rollie comes in a range of eye-catching patterns and fabrics so there is a shoe for every taste and every destination. They are so light you can easily pack a couple in your suitcase and have every activity covered.
Just for fun I’ve paired a few of my personal faves with the places I imagine wearing them.
Derby Cage Tan – for gallivanting around food markets in Asia
Madison Mule Camel Leopard Pony – for when your brunching in Byron Bay
Chelsea Charcoal Sparkle – Surely a must have for European Christmas markets!
