After eating and latte-ing my way around Canggu in Bali I was worried that Ubud wouldn’t produce as many awesome cafes. Pah! There’s not a community of expats and travellers based here for nothing.
As well as offering jungle and rice paddy views, the cafes in Ubud are cranking out home roasted coffee and salads that make the usually meat-eating me want to go veggo. Read on to discover my favourite cafes and coffee shops for lattes, lunches and sweet treats in Ubud, Bali.
Seniman Coffee Studio
Jalan Sriwedari No. 5, Banjar Taman Kelod, Ubud
Seniman roast their single origin coffee beans in the same street as you’ll find their friendly cafe (the roaster’s just over the road if you want a peek!). I loved the way they served the coffee here – friendly table service and every coffee served on a paddle with a glass of water and sweet snack.
There’s indoor and outdoor seating, with funky rocking seats, and a buzzer you can press if you’re sitting outside and desperate for another drink! The latte I ordered was a tad on the bitter side, for my taste, but maybe I just need to go back and give them another chance.
Anomali Coffee
Jl. Raya Ubud No.88, Petulu, Ubud
Anomali is a small Indonesian coffee chain that I found myself drawn to several times during my stay in Ubud. I tried a couple of the different house roasts at their cafe on the corner of Hanoman Street and each time the coffee was delicious.
They also have free and fast wifi and a tempting menu of sweet treats including French Toast with vanilla creme and a cookie cheesecake, which cheered me up on a wet afternoon.

Atman Kafe
I feel like a real Sydney-sider now as I only have to go away for a few days and I start getting avocado and sourdough withdrawals. Atman came to the rescue one afternoon with this delicious dish of avo and feta on freshly made bread.
I didn’t try the coffee here but tucked into a refreshing juice instead and finished up my meal with a scoop of their dairy free ice cream, which I’d highly recommend.
I like the low-seating here as well as the street-facing bench that you can perch at and watch the world go by.
Kafe
Jalan Hanoman No. 44B, Padangtegal, Ubud
Not far from Atman is another cafe that is great for bowl foods, salads and healthy (ish) cakes!
I went to Kafe a couple of times, once for an iced latte that wasn’t too impressive to be honest (more froth than substance), and another time for this plate of sizzling fajitas that really hit the spot.
Earth Cafe
Hands down the best lunch I had in Ubud was at Earth Cafe. Granted, I had some lovely company in the form of Katie from The Travelling Light, whose recommendation this was, but my goodness the falafel-filled pitta with hummus and Arabic salad I ordered was sooo good I forgot to photograph it!
Situated above the Earth Market, Earth Cafe serves a menu of organic, vegetarian and vegan dishes, which includes a yummy array of sandwiches and salads like the Hug-a-lalafel I ordered.
They also have a vast range of healthy teas and juices and a fridge full of tempting raw treats.
Hubud
Another place serving an excellent latte is the cafe at Ubud’s co-working space Hubud.
With enviable views of the rice fields, Hubud is an office like none other. The onsite cafe serves a small range of salads, sandwiches and raw treats as well as a really good cup of coffee.

Alila Ubud
I don’t normally include a hotel on a list like this but bear with me.
Usually I avoid ordering coffee at my hotel as the brew tends to be disappointing and the venue has not nearly as much of a vibe as at an independent cafe or coffee shop. But, after discovering the staff at Alila Ubud make a mean latte, the hotel became one of my favourite places to sit back and sip coffee whilst watching the mist roll over the valley and clouds reflected in the infinity pool.

It will be better if stated whether these cafes have air conditioned room or not.
Ha are you struggling with the heat then? My main priority was the food and coffee but if it’s air con you’re after the best bet is Starbucks next to the Lotus Temple 😀
