In my 7+ years of blogging I’ve never written a Christmas gift guide, mainly because I’m lazy there are a lot of gift idea articles already out there on the interwebs. I’ve been reading a few of them lately, however, and while they are full of great travel gifts ideas they are not exactly what I would want to be receiving. (Too much practicality for my liking!)
So I thought I would share a few thoughts on what to get the princess stylish traveller in your life in case you know one or happen to be one yourself (in which case subtly share this post with anyone who needs a hint!).
Gift Ideas For The Stylish Traveller
aka My Christmas List
Stocking Fillers
If you’re looking for some cheapish token gifts for the travel addict these are a few of my travel essentials.
Lucas Paw Paw ointment – magic balm for dry lips and chapped skin.
Packing cubes – the best thing you can buy a frequent flyer, I promise.
Totes slipper socks – love a pair or 2 of these to keep feet toasty on the plane. These novelty ones should put a smile on fellow passengers faces.
Travel-Themed Reads
Fuel your friend’s wanderlust with these travel-inspired reads.
A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry
Holy Cow: An Indian Adventure by Sarah Macdonald
Notes From A Small Island: Journey Through Britain by Bill Bryson
The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy
Love With A Chance Of Drowning by Torre DeRoche
In-Flight Essentials
Getting into more pricey territory, these are the items I’d suggest buying if you want to really impress a frequent flying friend.
Kate Spade Leather Passport Case – protects that essential travel document in something bright and easy to spot. Also makes good Insta photos *just saying, don’t judge*.
Bose QuietComfort Headphones – currently top of my Christmas list are some noise-cancelling headphones to block out any snorers, sniffers or cryers (myself included) on long-haul flights.
Merino wool wrap – the ultimate travel companion, a stylish oversized wrap that doubles as a blanket on the flight. I won’t fly anywhere without mine.
Travel Hack Cabin Case – I actually am getting this for Christmas after mum kindly offered to buy me one. Can’t wait to road-test this chic cabin bag with super smart laptop sleeve and integrated handbag compartment.
Beach Chic
For ladies whose second home is the beach these are the gifts I’d suggest.
Round towel – to a dude this may sound odd but I got a round towel for Christmas 2 years ago and never beach without it. It has room enough for two, if your lady doesn’t mind sharing. This one has a pineapple on it, the owner will be the envy of the beach!
Heads up: You can save 40% off the original roundie towels from The Beach People in their Black Friday sale.
Camilla kaftans – purchasing public, if you really want to wow your girl (or if you need to treat yo’self) then get onto the Camilla website and bag one of her divine silk kaftans. In striking, travel-inspired prints, these lightweight, beautifully crafted garments are the perfect gift for stylish travellers. They don’t crease, you can wear them multiple ways and, based on the 3 that feature in my travel wardrobe, they never fail to elicit compliments.
Black Friday deal alert:
Save up to 25% off selected products from Camilla’s From Rio with Love collection on Black Friday (9am – 11:59 pm 24th November).
Upgraded Travel Experiences
Did you know that you can upgrade someone’s flight using your own frequent flyer points? Be in the good books all year by gifting someone business class travel. Check your frequent flyer programme for details.
Many frequent flyer programmes also let you transfer points between family and friends so if your girl is planning a big trip why not consider sharing your points so she can book a reward flight or upgrade a flexible booking?
Even without upgrading the flight you can get their journey off to a great start by gifting them lounge access. Check out the Plaza Network Gift Card for international lounge access (including Sydney, London, Singapore and Abu Dhabi) or buy them a one-off entry to the stylish No 1 Lounges at UK airports including Heathrow and Gatwick.
Capture Travel Memories
My final gift idea is one that will last a lifetime. If the traveller you are buying for has a special trip coming up you can gift them a professional photography session with Travelshoot so they’ll have the most beautiful photos to remember their experience with.
Travelshoot connect travellers with photographers in over 80 destinations across the globe. Their photographers spend 1-2 hours with clients to guide them around the iconic spots of their home city as they images that you’ll want to print, treasure and show to anyone who’ll look! (Read about my Travelshoot experience in Sydney for insight on how it works.)
Reader special:
Travelshoot have kindly offered all Girl Tweets World readers a discount of $50 with the unique code GIRLTWEETSWORLD (discount automatically applied at check out if you book via this link).
So that gives you a little idea of what I might be giving (and hoping to receive) this Christmas. What’s on your list?
Note: This is not a sponsored post but some of the products contain affiliate links – it means I make a small amount from any sale, at no extra cost to you!
Great list! I love the mix of fun, practical and extravagant gifts. There’s definitely something for every traveller on this list.
